Layla
Are you looking for a sweet, smart and tiny Basenji girl
to steal your heart? Hmm. I might be able to help. Layla is a curious,
lively and lovely petite black & white female Basenji who is available for
adoption. How else to describe her? As dark and beautiful as the night sky,
as elusive as mercury, as graceful as a gazelle, a magical imp with a
twinkle of mischief in her sparkling eyes. Can you tell I’m smitten?
Layla is a typical Basenji who enjoys watching squirrels
out the window, de-stuffing her toys, going for car rides, sniffing and
smelling her people and sometimes running the B-500 around the living room
furniture – but especially car rides. Although Layla can be skittish and
easily startled, she comes back again and again for affection and play. She
is a real charmer and, with some gentle direction, will be eager to learn
basic commands. Another plus is that, although she is initially nervous at
the vet, she settles down quickly and stays very still for examination and
inoculations.

She seems to do well with most women, but can have
reservations around some men. She hasn’t been exposed to small children, but
has enjoyed playing long and hard with a friendly Cairn terrier. Layla has
lived with the same family since early puppy hood, and seems very
intelligent, curious, and eager to please. She also seems to be independent
and comfortable being off on her own. A Basenji-savvy household with no
small children, possibly with a fun-loving B-boy for companionship, would be
just the ticket for this beguiling little angel.
If you think you could provide Layla with love, activity, and evening
cuddle-time, please read the data sheet below carefully, complete
the BRAT
adoption form (if you have not previously done so)
and contact BRAT coordinator,
Roberta Kosek. The coordinator's link will take you to a form that will
ask you your name, e-mail address, the city and state you live in, why this dog is perfect for your family, a
typical day in your household, and, if applicable, how you plan to
transport the dog. |
