Rusty
Rusty is a handsome, red and white basenji boy that is
looking for a very special home. Rusty is timid and uncomfortable with
anything new and unfamiliar. One look into his soulful eyes and your heart
will melt. This boy wants and needs love so much but is waiting to meet that
special person that can help draw the hidden puppy out of his dark past. A
past that began in a small cold pen and for some reason he never made it to
the Pet Store where he may have had a chance to become someone's beloved
pet. He never felt a warm loving hand caress him and whisper how much he was
loved. His whole world was that tiny pen.
Thanks to BRAT, Rusty’s life is finally beginning to open
a whole new world that will include people that want to love and care for
him. Rusty is now ready for his first steps toward his future forever home.
A home that will offer unconditional love right away. That love will begin
to build a trust that seals a bond between Rusty and his new family.
Rusty needs a home that is calm and laid back. Children
frighten him, so only homes with no small children will be considered. Rusty
is learning by watching the other dogs in his foster home. Therefore, his
new home must have a friendly dog to continue his Doggie Education. His
foster home has other basenji's, a Papillion, a Collie and a Lab. He seems
to like the large dogs best. There are no cats in his Foster home and we
have no reason to believe he has ever lived with a cat. Rusty is house
trained and knows how to use a doggie door. He has never been destructive in
the foster home. He has helped the resident dogs hunt moles in the yard - he
does really well at digging them out!
His safe place is a crate and he will retreat to a crate
any time he feels threatened. He rides in a crate or with a leash, and has
not gotten carsick. He walks best on a No-Pull harness. He does tend to be a
picky eater and could use a little bit of a weight gain.
Preference will be given to a home within 4-6 hours drive
from his foster home in South Missouri. Rusty's Foster parents must
introduce him to his new family. He will not be able to fly.
If you believe you could be the Special person Rusty
is looking for, and can provide him with a life of love, activity, and evening
cuddle-time, please read the data sheet below carefully, complete
the BRAT
adoption form (if you have not previously done so)
and contact BRAT coordinator,
Tonya Ahrens. The coordinator's link will take you to a form that will
ask you your name, e-mail address, the city and state you live in, why this dog is perfect for your family, a
typical day in your household, and, if applicable, how you plan to
transport the dog. |
