Kota

I am a petite, two-year-old, red and white basenji diva. I
am very playful and love to play tug-of-war or fetch with you. (Don’t expect
me to drop the toy when I come back though!)
I love attention and get very excited to say “welcome
home” by wagging my tail and barooing. One of my favorite things is to race
from window to window to check out what is going on outside. I tend to get
excited when company comes over and jump up or want to sit on their lap to
give them some love. In the summer I like to spend a lot of time sitting in
the sun, outside on the patio or, in the winter, on the heat vent. I also
enjoy taking walks and do well on the leash.
I have decided that I definitely do NOT want to live with
young children ever again, so my new forever-home should be an adults-only
home or where there are older teenagers who all know how to treat a girl. I
want no part of living with or having to be around little, young humans
again because I behave much better with a mommy and daddy who understand
when I want to be left alone. All that said: I would do best in a
basenji-savvy home.
I am potty trained but you need to ask me if I have to go outside. When I
really have to go, I run in circles by the door. I usually go out every two
to three hours. I do not like the cold weather or getting my feet wet in the
rain so you have to pull me onto the grass and command for me to “go potty.”
As soon as I wake up I have to go outside immediately or I might have an
accident.
I
will bolt if I see a chance. I run very fast and will not come back. I am
very brave and like to chase cars so please be careful that I do not sneak
outside.
I'm crate-trained but not crazy about my crate. Going into
my crate is tolerable if you give me a treat first and let me go in by
myself. Nobody pushes a diva like me. How rude! I prefer to sleep in bed
with my humans. If you do let me sleep in bed with you, you can gently push
me with your legs even though I might become moody. I would do best in a
home where I don’t have to be crated for long periods of time.
I'm healthy and up-to-date on shots. I do have some
separation anxiety that I need my forever home to help me with. I prefer not
to be picked up or touched or moved when I'm sleeping. I will remind you
know in case you forget! Like any self-respecting basenji, I love toilet
paper and will drag it through the house if I find a bathroom door open.
If you think you could provide Kota with love, activity, and evening
cuddle-time, please read the data sheet below carefully, complete
the BRAT
adoption form (if you have not previously done so)
and contact BRAT coordinator,
Barbara and Dennis Narehood. The coordinator's link will take you to a form that will
ask you your name, e-mail address, the city and state you live in, why this dog is perfect for your family, a
typical day in your household, and, if applicable, how you plan to
transport the dog. |
