Red Whine

Red Whine is becoming a handsome petite mahogany colored Basenji! In March he found the world he knew (one he'd like to forget) turned upside down. Everything was very frightening for him as he went from Missouri to New Jersey in only a week. During that week he became a changed man!

In the few weeks Red Whine has been in foster care, he has gained weight and his coat shows improvement. His foster family assumed that he was not house-trained. At first there were a few accidents near the door and now he is getting the hang of it. Red Whine can hold it overnight.

Red Whine was a frightened, submissive Basenji. Slowly he is showing more confidence with people. He is learning to play with the girl Basenjis in his foster home. Red Whine has a marvelous baritone baroo, which he will use to let you know it is his turn out of the crate. When the other Basenjis join in, he leads a chorus! At other times he can sound like a softly meowing cat!

Red Whine is looking for that special family that will give him a forever home. He would do well with a calm older child or a family with no children living at home. Red Whine did not get along with his Basenji cousins (male and female) that were sold at the same auction. It will be very important that he meet any dog that will be in his future home.  Prospective owners must be willing to come to NJ to meet Red Whine and his foster family.

If you feel you could provide Red Whine with the time and patience to enjoy being a Basenji, please read the data sheet below carefully, complete the BRAT adoption form (if you have not previously done so) and contact BRAT fostermom/coordinator, Barbara and Dennis Narehood. The coordinator's link will take you to a form that will ask you your name, e-mail address, the city and state you live in, why he is perfect for your family, a typical day in your household, and, if applicable, how you plan to transport him.
