River
River
is a happy and healthy 15-month old tri-color basenji that has wonderful
coloring. He may be the sweetest dog that you will ever meet. He loves
people (adults and children) and attention. He is a bit shy at first,
but once he realizes that you are a friend he warms up quickly. River
responds well to his name. He also knows some basic commands (sit. no,
leave it, off). He is potty trained and will scratch at the door when he
needs to go out. River has gotten along wonderfully with his foster
siblings and with other dogs.
River is an active dog and loves to chase animals. He is
happiest when he is able to run free but he is also great on a leash. He
LOVES to go on hikes and to explore all the scents of nature. He rides well
in the car on both short and long trips.
River has been spoiled by sleeping on the bed with his
foster family, but he is just as happy on the couch where he can stretch out
his long legs. River is a quiet dog except when you leave him behind; his
basenji "baroo" will let you know that he would rather be going with you.
When you come back home he will greet you at the door with a "welcome home"
shake.
River
is an escape artist, so if you intend to crate him padlocks are a must!
River was crated at his foster home initially but now he has the run of the
house and there have been no problems with destructive behavior. He is a
tall boy, though, and can surf countertops, and he will grab whatever he can
reach. A firm "no" will get his attention. River loves his chew toys and
sticks, which is good because he will find something to chew on, however
inappropriate, if those are not available to him.
It can't be emphasized enough just what a sweetheart River
is once he warms up to someone. He is like a teddy bear, and when he is
tired out from playing, he will curl right up next to you to sleep. River
will make a wonderful addition to any household that could provide him with
the love and attention this wonderful boy deserves.
If you think you could provide River with love, activity, and evening
cuddle-time, please read the data sheet below carefully, complete
the BRAT
adoption form (if you have not previously done so)
and contact BRAT coordinator,
William Key. The coordinator's link will take you to a form that will
ask you your name, e-mail address, the city and state you live in, why this dog is perfect for your family, a
typical day in your household, and, if applicable, how you plan to
transport the dog. |
