Happy Ending Story for Kenya
This little tri-girl's name is
Kenya. She came to live with us in June 2006,after having been rescued by
BRAT with her brother, Congo. They were originally from Texas. The father of
their family had banished them to live out in the yard after one of them had
a puppy accident in the house. The mom relinquished them to BRAT and they
were moved to a wonderful foster home in Michigan. The foster people had
five of their own Basenji's, so Kenya and Congo learned to be independent of
each other in case they were not adopted together.
My family had lost our little red Basenji girl awhile back
and we were starting to look for a new little girl. One of the BRAT
coordinators thought Kenya might be a perfect match. She was so right! Kenya
is the friendliest and cuddliest Basenji we've ever had. She is our fifth
Basenji, actually; four have been BRAT rescues. She gets along fine with our
brindle boy who is her age, and also our fourteen-year-old red boy, Simon,
pictured here with her in the sun.
Her brother Congo also found a good home near the foster
home, so this story has two happy endings!
UPDATE: When we got her she was 6 1/2 years old,
and she just had her ninth birthday. There have been a few changes, we lost
our brindle and also Kenya’s biological brother Congo passed away. However,
Kenya is very healthy, although a bit chubby, and can run like the wind. She
still has an older brother, Simon, also a rescue, who is 16 years old, and
she is very good to him. She is very well behaved - has never chewed
anything up, gotten into garbage, and doesn't even look at toilet paper or
Kleenex, which is most un-Basenji-like! All she wants to do is lie in the
sun, be with her humans, and get as many treats as she possibly can.
