Basenji Rescue and Transport, Inc.
Donations to Support the Rescue of the FL Confiscated Basenjis
In early January, 33 basenjis were confiscated from a five acre field by Hillsborough County Animal Services (HCAS) in Florida. These basenjis, feral in nature, were living in outside environments and were un-vetted. HCAS recognized the special nature of basenjis and requested our assistance to work with these dogs. The judge ruled in a custody hearing on February 11th that legal custody be awarded to HCAS. This gave HCAS the opportunity to transfer ownership to BRAT. In anticipation of bringing these dogs into rescue, BRAT has incurred significant vetting expenses to remove heavy parasitic loads and to counterbalance the stress of shelter life after living free in an open field away from human contact, noises, and barking dogs. There are many puppies, mothers, and pregnant bitches that have been saved by BRAT's assistance and now over 50 basenjis are in this pack. We will continue to incur expenses transitioning them from such a large pack to becoming healthy, well adjusted pets with families.
We would appreciate any contributions made to help these basenjis find their way into loving, forever homes.
Thank you for supporting BRAT!
