It’s time to dig through your favorite photos and enter the 2027 BRAT Calendar Contest! The deadline is August 30, 2026 at midnight Pacific Time. Don’t miss out!
Please follow the guidelines carefully so your photo will be accepted and be eligible when the voting phase begins.
BRAT volunteers can submit two photos of their Basenji or Basenji mix, along with one photo of a current or former foster dog. BRAT adopters and non-BRAT entrants can submit two photos of their Basenji or Basenji mix. If you have more than two photos of your Basenji or Basenji mix, only the first two will be considered.
Make sure your photos are in the highest resolution in .jpg or .jpeg format, no bigger than 20 megabytes. Also, make sure the photos are properly oriented. If your dog is standing when it’s actually lying down, rotate the image before submitting your entry. Don’t crop your photos before submitting either.
Photos can’t have a digital time or date stamp, border, frame, mask, or other decorative applications. You can’t use Adobe® Photoshop® or other AI image-generating software to recreate a situation or include objects or scenes that aren’t in the original photo.
No identifiable humans can be in the photos. Photos that fit into seasonal or holiday categories have a better chance of being selected.
If you own the dog but aren’t the photographer, you’ll need to provide a Release for Use form signed by the photographer. A commissioned photo doesn’t need a release. Send an email to the Calendar Contest Administrator to ask for more information.
Fill out all the blanks in the entry, including your first and last names (not just initials). In the caption field, include the name and rescue status of each animal (e.g., Brutus, BRAT (or BRAT rescue); Taffy, non-BRAT rescue; Mitzi, non-rescue; Lady, BRAT mix; Timmy, non-BRAT).
The top 10 entries will receive a free calendar. If you have multiple photos in the top 10, you’ll only get one calendar, not one for each photo.
